Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation
The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation granted $75,000 to The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii to help restore Heeia Ahupuaa in Windward Oahu. Heeia was once one of the most productive agricultural areas on Oahu — it had hundreds of acres of taro fields and the largest fishpond on the island — but is now overgrown with invasive species. Funds will partially match a multi-year grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for stream and wetland restoration.
